Some say he is a brilliant dealmaker, some say he is a dodgy character and as with most things in life, the truth lies somewhere in between. We'll try and pull together as much information as possible and let you decide for yourself.
History
Kerr.studied at Christ’s College in Canterbury from 1978 to 1984 and did a BCom at Otago University.
Early Carreer
In the 1990's Kerr was working at Spicers Portfolio Management. He was subsequently involved with New Zealand Funds Management, was Chairman of Brook Asset Management and worked at Sterling Grace and Tempus Capital. In 2001 he bagged $32m, together with fellow director Craig Dawson, by selling Sterling to Axa. After taking gardening leave in the early 2000's he started developing property with John Darby.
PGC
In 2007 he took an interest in Pyne Gould (PGC) for the first time, became a director in August 2008 at which time he was also listed as a director of more than fifty companies by the Companies Office. Kerr sold Equity Parnets Asset Management (EPAM) to PGC in 2009. He subsequently increased his influence on PGC on an annual basis and is currently bidding to take over the company.
Those are the broad strokes and we will focus on the details in coming posts.
Cheerio!
